How to Prepare for Your Consultation

A little preparation makes your consultation more useful. You will leave with a clearer picture of your options, the likely next steps, and a realistic view of cost and timing.

How consultations work

Consultations with William Oxley are a flat fee of $350. You can meet by phone, by Zoom, or at the office on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills. Your consultation is private and confidential.

What to bring

  • Any court papers you have filed or been served with, including any notice of a hearing date.
  • Recent pay stubs and your last two years of tax returns.
  • A list of major assets and debts: the home, accounts, retirement, vehicles, loans and credit cards.
  • Any existing agreements or orders, such as a prenuptial agreement, custody order or support order.
  • A short timeline: the date of marriage, the date of separation, and your children's names and ages.

Questions to consider asking

  • What are my options, and what would you recommend first?
  • What deadlines apply to my case right now?
  • What will this likely cost, and how is billing handled?
  • What can I do now to protect myself and my children?
  • How will we communicate while my case is open?

After the consultation

If you decide to move forward, you will receive a written fee agreement and a clear plan for the first steps. You work directly with William Oxley throughout your case.

If you have a hearing coming up or were just served, mention it when you request your consultation so it can be scheduled promptly.
